Your job as a leader

  1. Be clear on what good looks like for the organisation
  2. Clarify the measures of that goodness
  3. Hire those who are inspired who demonstrate mastery and who want autonomy
  4. Trust them. Get out of the way
  5. If tempted to micro manage, refer to rule 4 (maybe just refresh 1 and 2 with skill and patience)
  6. Keep your ratio of positive / negative feedback at least 4/1
  7. Enjoy watching good people develop and realise that smart people who are inspired and trusted will always exceed your expectation
