I got a bit of a shock earlier this week when one of my clients reminded me to remind them that we were 16% through the year.
So the question is, are we 16% through our goals?
Even without COVID lockdowns, it is a funny time of year, we are close to the end of the financial which can mean, we are frantically trying to close some deals to hit our targets, we have one last push to get a good run rate heading into next year, or we are waiting, waiting for April 1 to get access to the new budget.
It doesn’t matter which one of the above scenarios your business fits into, I tend to have clients falling into one of two camps when they enter a new financial year. They are either the throw everything at the wall and see what sticks, or build a plan, test, learn and refine.
And it’s not hard to guess which businesses end up being more successful at the end of the year.
The problem is most sales and marketing teams actually struggle to articulate their plan in a simple and concise way, which is why I get them to complete our one-page growth plan template.
It allows them to simply walk through and answer the following questions:
- Who is your customer, and what are their needs and desires?
- What is the broken bone issue you are fixing?
- How does this show up as a solution?
- What outcomes are we trying to achieve?
- What are your strategies and tactics?
- What channels from comms and sales?
- What resources and cost do we need?
As we head into the final month of the financial year, it is important to get your teams aligned on what they need to do to achieve the growth you need, so I’m giving you access to our one-page growth plan template, a tutorial and instructions on how to use it.
Let’s not waste anymore of the year hoping we will get growth and let’s get organised to hit the ground running in FY22
